The Latin title is De vita Caesarum (On the Life of the Caesars) which is known as The Twelve Caesars, is a set of twelve biographies of Julius Caesar and the first 11 emperors of the Roman Empire. It was composed by Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus in 121 AD.
The Twelve Caesars is considered of great importance and remains a primary source for Roman history. The book discusses the period of the Principate from the end of the Republic to the rule of Domitian. It is similar in style to Tacitus whose surviving works document a similar period. The following Caesars are covered in this text:
Julius Caesar
Augustus
Tiberius
Caligula
Claudius
Nero
Galba
Otho
Vitellius
Vespasian
Titus
Domitian
